Better than reviews would indicate, this place is classic American food. Fried appetizers were ok, tasted of oil a bit of old oil. The burgers and entrees are as described and service was prompt and polite. Prices were more than fair for food and booze was priced well too. If your looking for good food and don't need fancy, this is the place.

Fat boss behind the bar refused to serve me even though I provided three forms of ID, one federal and two from different states. He didn't even have the courtesy to come over and explain why he wouldn't take them but gave the waitress the job of trying to explain some b/s that something wasn't laminated the right way. Overpriced food that doesn't taste anywhere good enough for the price, and the waitress was barely attentive at all. Will not come back.

Actually walked out. Our waitress was nowhere to be found, twice we picked up our own drinks from the bartender. If this were the only instance I would not be so harsh, but sadly it is the norm. And this was a weeknight during offseason

Service was good the staff was really nice and helpful since it was our first time in the Ariea I think it's. 10 times better then Nicks boat house right next door

We weren't expecting much due to the reviews on yelp but decided to give it a try. The fries were fresh cut hot and delicious. Service was great I had a fresh pot of coffee made for me. Worth the wait. Daniele was pleasant and quick. 12:30 on a Sunday the place was dead but at one o'clock it really started to fill up. We had a cheeseburger that was chargrilled and very tasty. Pretty big so I didn't finish. All in all very tasty and we will be back to try something different!

I guess I was hoping for a better experience here than what I got. To start with the bartender, Doug, was a nice enough fella. but he was a little more interested in chatting with his buds than actually doing his job. As it was Wing night we decided to give them a try. They were .50 each so we decided to try 5 each of 3 flavors. No problem. However when I got the bill there was a charge of $5.00 for extra ranch and celery. I didn't ask.for extra but I guess with having 3 different flavors they some how justify the upcharge. Well the only thing that did was to solidify the fact we will never be back. And hopefully someone reading this won't either. Maybe they will learn not to try and rip people off

Went on a busy Saturday night in January and the food took a while to get to us. I ordered the burger and it was well worth the wait. The black and blue burger might be the best burger I ever had. Will be back next time I'm up in the poconos.

The only thing consistent with the inconsistent service is the quality of food. Being an avid visitor to the Lake Harmony region annually from NY, we tend to wander back to Shenanigans for dinner every time. Total crapshoot regarding the level of service you'll receive and an even bigger enigma when it comes to delivering the bill and the hidden surprises it seems to ALWAYS contain. BUT...the food is always great. Just don't ask for a lime wedge with your gin and tonic...or your fried chicken sandwich to be grilled...or have the last name Klein.

I wouldn't recommend coming here on a Friday or Saturday night for dinner, but as far as night life in the Poconos, this may be one of the best places to go up here. They have two sides. One side is the sit down restaurant area with a bar and they usually have karaoke. This is the more "low key" bar but still fun. But if you're expecting to have a nice sit down dinner on a Friday or Saturday night, you may wait a while for your food and the servers seem rude and rushed. Although the food is good. It's a mixed crowd and definitely a good place to sit down and have drinks. The other side is the "club." (I have club in quotes because it's the most club-kind-of-place you'll find on the mountain). This side has a DJ and dancing. The crowd here always varies and you never know what to expect. But the DJ plays good music and you can dance and have a good time. The bar isn't huge and sometimes you end up waiting a long time for a drink. The servers here have sometimes been rude too, but that happens with a bunch of drunk people waiting for drinks. There's another bar in this area that isn't always open- but should be. You can go back and forth between the two rooms which is nice when you want to switch things up. There is a cover to get in just to the restaurant area at night which I think is a little ridiculous. Overall, as far as options for night life in the Poconos, this would be one of my top picks.

We were seated right away, on a Saturday night. Our waitress was attentive, and the food was at our table within 20 minutes.

Saturday night of St Patricks Day weekend I would expect an Irish bar/rest to be better prepared in the kitchen. We were told 1/2 hr wait for food but we waited 1 hr 5 minutes! Shepard's pie was obviously done first as it was dried out and hard, half the wings had no sauce on them, medium burger was juicy red. No pint in asking to have meals fixed because it Would have been another hour. Food wasn't good. The reason I give it 2 stars is our server and the bus girl were real quick with our drinks and friendly. Disappointing. People were leaving because they felt they had waited too long.

It's a Friday's but it's called Shenanigans. It has outdoor seating and entertainment that apparently starts after 10:30 We came for drinks and Karaoke but Karaoke didn't happen. We did not order food because we had already ate.

The place was a normal typical bar type of good restaurant. The food was good and so was the service. The price was slightly higher than normal but it is a resort location. Had a good lunch

  • Chichi E.

Last resort type of place. If you're willing to take a drive go somewhere else. On a good note the service is amazing and the boneless chicken was pretty good. Other than that the prices were unexpected and the cook tried to charge for everything that actually came with the meal. I ordered the new your strip lol it came with onions but he charged me two dollars for sautéed

Shenanigans is the best restraunt in PA because Rose our server sered us and she gave us food right away plus the buffalo wings are the best. Also I would rate this restraunt 5 stars or six stars

Worst service we have ever experienced. Just finished tough mudder where they are promoting everyone to come to an after party. Took 50 minutes to get drinks after ordering. Food came first. They actually said they were busy as their excuse.I could go on and on. They didn't care what so ever. NEVER TO RETURN.

I am really disappointed with these reviews posted about shenanigan's restaurant, bar pub. I have been to this place many times with family, friends, spouse, or just a nice night out and this place always brightens the moment with great food and friendly staff. I don't know much about the bar because I don't drink much but I was there on weekend once karaoke and music was fun and entertaining. If you love to eat and have casual fun then you should check out this place Next time you in town, or vacation. Plus you can use restaurant. Com vouchers on weekdays towards your food purchase which is good when dining out on a budget.

It's a nice place, food is a hit or miss. There is never a consistency of food quality when you go. They do have a good beer selection. There is a club in the back which is pretty good however there is no need to get dressed up last time I went there, in a polo and dress slacks, there was a guy in a Walmart shirt and flip fops.

It's a bar. Nice atmosphere and a friendly bartender named Doug. I went here with a group for New Years (we stayed in a nearby cabin) and it was a pretty cool place. I'm not certain how things are on regular nights but there were two options on New Years. 1) you could stay in the bar resturant area listen to a live band and socialize. 2) alternatively you could go into the party room where there was a dj/dance floors, two more bars, a pool table, seating areas, and a dart board. I didn't try any of the food and I'm not a drinker so no notes there. This place is very spacious and since I don't know the area I'm not certain where else we would've gone. Lol. There were a few people there that had one too many but I suppose that's the nature of any bar party. The security team were really cool and funny. When it was time to leave they were joking and laughing with the crowd.

This place is terrible! Bartender was miserable as was the waitstaff. Seemed like the people working here had no desire to be there and they took it out on us. Went there to have a drink and a light dinner..previous posts on Yelp raved about the wings, but they were terrible..cold, under cooked, and just terrible. I ordered a captain and coke from the bar and it tasted like the drink was either watered down or they put a drop of Captain in it. I asked the bartender to add some captain to the drink and he said no I should have asked for a double! I then asked about the happy hour specials which started at 6:00pm it was 5:55 when I asked and he told me I couldn't order happy hour specials from the bar I was sitting at and would have to go to a different bar which was in a cold room that stunk like smoke! Apparently happy hour is only for that room! First time I have been in a bar where they don't honor Happy Hour specials in the entire bar! I left and went to a real bar in the area called the Boulder View Tavern! DO NOT GO TO SHENANIGANS it is what its name says a bunch of Shenanigans!!!

If I could give less than one star I would! So horrible!!!! We were seated quickly and then forgotten. We finally gave order after 25 minutes when they realized we were forgotten. Then we got one of our 5 orders 30 min later. After an hour after that we said forget about the rest we need to get our kids out they cant wait any longer. Then we were told oh you wiil be taken care of, we will comp the rest and give you drinks. Those never showed!. They brought rest of our order in to go bags and charged us!!! So shocked and management was hiding when we paid! We have 3 small children and one is autistic and was doing extremely well with the long wait! Never will return, so ridiculous!!! Thanks for your 10% discount, $8.00 when we said forget our meals after our kids ate! Save yourself the trouble go elsewhere!!!!!

  • Jeff W.

If they are going serve food like that they might as well just close the kitchen. The one tiny meatball that came on the kids spaghetti was inedible. I'm not quite sure how a small ball of meat could be made to be so unpleasant. It felt as if they were closing up for winter. Most of the bottle beers were out of stock. The meat on the French dip was overdone and dry. For a safe bet the onion soup was decent. The service was apathetic at best. I'd stay away

The food was good, entertainment on the night we went was hysterical, though not because it was a comedy routine. Man and woman duet, they tried they really did but idk maybe it was the beer, maybe it was them but something was funny about the whole thing. The beer pot-roast was delicious, so were the clams casino, but service was spotty when we went. Overall okay experience, though I wouldn't return, not for the price.

Shananagins I'd go there for ten dollars, unless it's empty but if you have a group karaoke is great, u can get really hammered on cheap drinks too. Baby boomers night club, since 1955, is the smoking club, but you end up in there later to dance. Update: they don't smoke in Baby Boomer's night club anymore and they redecorated it so its not as fun anymore(no more mirror ceiling, black and white checked floor, neon lights)

The only positive about this place is the name. Poor service, food, and atmosphere. Do not eat here.

    (2)
  • Ikka S.

Warning!! There is a $10 cover charge here even if you are coming to eat after 10pm. They wanted to charge our group of 11 $10 each just to come in and eat! We come up to lake harmony frequently and we stay clear of this place.

I enjoyed dining, dancing and singing karaoke here! Drink prices were reasonable, the staff were great, the DJ was awesome, and I felt very safe!

Not a bad option for a night out in Lake Harmony... then again, it's one of very few options. We came to Shenanigans this past Saturday for some drinks, fun and yep... Shenanigans... and got what we came for. The fun here is what you make of it. The front room has food, cougars, and karaoke. Karaoke quality ranged from "is that Frank Sinatra?" to "oh god my eardrums", but there didn't seem to be a long wait. The drinks were stiff, and our bartender was very patient with our 12 person group who wanted to pay with 10 credit cards, about $15 cash, a lift ticket, and some mints. Jk, but he did patiently go back and split the tab about 4 ways using multiple forms of payment. The back "boom boom room" is a Jersey Shore style dance party, with slightly less fist pumping and more smoke. Fun, but probably b/c I several drinks and games of flip cup in, and b/c dancing excites me no matter who else is on the dance floor. I would surely return with a big, fun group next time I'm up at JFBB. P.S. Leave your coat in the car to avoid smelling like a cigarette the next day.

Very nice people. Great food and service !!! Wasn't expecting it to be so nice and friendly inside (: Kid friendly !

This place is a meat market if you know what that is. Unfortunately, the only place to have a drink later in the evening. This is a smoking facility so be warned, your clothes get saturated with tobacco smell. The food is ok, the staff with the exception of a few, were friendly, the only reason we went back. Of note were Server Alicia and Bartender Sandy - thaks Ladies!!

"What's the name of that restaurant you like, with all that goofy $#!t on the walls and the mozzarella sticks? SHENANIGANS!" - Super Troopers We rented a cabin in Lake Harmony for the weekend, and seeing Shenanigans on the side of the road, we knew we needed to take a stop here to check out the shenanigans. The sign on the road stating "Baby Boomer Dance Party" or something to that nature was another reason we had to drop in. After a day of boarding, we stopped here to get the Shenanigan wings. Ordered 30 wings for about $29...that's a dollar a wing, which is pretty pricey in my book. We got three flavors: Wallace (a hot honey mustard we had to try just to say we had the wallace), teriyaki, and a garlic-ish one...forgot the other names; I still prefer Hooters. Drink prices were also reasonable here...we ordered hot cocoa with peppermint schnapps (a must have after a day on the slopes), and it was less than $4. Our server was really nice to and even topped it with whip cream to hit the spot (that's what she said). The place was packed at 10pm when we were heading back from a night session at Big Boulder. Their motto is quite true: "Eventually, everyone (really does) show up at Shenanigans."

I'm bumping Shenanigans up to 4 stars because the wings here are absolutely amazing. They have some of the best wings I've ever had and I'm a huge Buffalo wing fan and consider myself a wing connoisseur. Even though Shenanigans isn't exactly convenient to where I live, I'm up in the Poconos area a decent amount and may have to start making more trips here to get my wing fix. Shenanigans serves breaded wings which I like and they are also a very big wing (i.e. lots of meat). They're also served in a very spicy sauce - just the right amount of kick to make the wings taste great. Also, they have phenomenal blue cheese. Blue cheese is a very underrated piece of the whole wing experience, in my opinion. I prefer a chunky blue cheese and Shenanigans delivers on this. It's easily in my top 5 blue cheeses I've ever had. They also offer a bunch of different flavors of wings to choose from - I stick to the Buffalo but they do have a very good selection. I sampled the BBQ and they were pretty good, as well. They also have a flavor called "Wallace" which I have no idea what that actually is. I've had some other food from Shenanigans, as well, but it's nowhere near as good as the wings. I had a grilled chicken sandwich for my meal. It was good, not great - I'd probably order something off the menu next time (or just stick to the wings). If I was rating this place strictly on the wings, I'd go an easy 5 stars but I've gotta look at everything. Fries were just OK, too. The service was decent throughout the meal, especially considering how big our party was. Bar Update I was at Shenanigans back in May of 2012 for a bachelor party and I was back again in January of 2014 for another bachelor party. Both times, we came to Shenanigans on a Friday night. The first time around the place was completely empty but not in January 2014. The place was jam packed - I'm guessing because of the season (maybe). The karaoke was still in full effect and a couple of guys in our groups dabbled a little bit in that but they were all awful. Very full people are good but the guys I was with were absolutely terrible and they know it. It's a pretty fun bar in Lake Harmony that has some phenomenal wings. If you're in the area, it's definitely the type of place that you can have a solid time at and it's great for groups.

We were visiting PA on a trip and this place is minutes from the split rock resort area. We went on a week day late night so pretty much there was no one dining in the place..The food was very good, mostly sandwiches and unique apps, like better than average bar food..would return if we were ever in the area again.

    (3)
  • Jen B.

Each trip to Split Rock means dinner at Shananigan's. The food, service, and pub feel make it a great stop to over-fill our bellies. The French Onion soup was amazing. I enjoyed the massive serving of Blackened Chicken Scampi while my husband had the Chicken Pillard with its huge chunks of crab. If the prices seem high, just share. The servings are enormous, making the cost well worth it.

We went here twice because there wasn't much to choose from around the area. Our first visit we got a chicken sandwich that I didn't see on the menu during our second visit so I got a little confused. I ordered this chicken sandwich which was pretty basic and just lettuce tomato and mayo. It was okay but very dry. The fries here are pretty good and the chips are not bad either. The second time I came I ordered a southern style chicken sandwich with buffalo sauce and they put the sauce on the side which I'm not sure if they always do that but I would much rather if it would have been already on the sandwich, but no biggie. This sandwich was much better and very worth it. The service here was pretty good, nothing bad to say about it. The prices here are ridiculous though. For a shrimp and chicken pasta they want over $20 when I can go to Fridays and get it for like $15. The filet mignon was about $30 and if you want fries with your meal instead of the homemade chips it was an extra $1.50.

We were staying in the area recently and stumbled upon Shenanigans. The real "shenanigan" was the price we paid for average food. One cheesesteak, one burger and two sodas cost us $30. We went during the summer, when no skiers were anywhere to be found. I can't justify paying $30 for a non-filling meal in the middle of nowhere. They wanted minimum of $15-$20 PER entree, so we stuck with the cheaper items. Who do they think they are charging those excessive prices. Cheesesteaks should not cost $9.55! That's more expensive than getting one at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. And it was sub-par too. A friendly piece of advice... steer clear of the shenanigans at Shenanigans!

Should be featured on Restaurant Impossible tv show. Has all the makings such as poor reception, long wait, processed food...doesn't even deserve 1 star!!!!

  • Maria G.

I thought the food was very good. Large portions. Reasonably priced at $10.00 for a large burger and a large order of fried potato chips. The other items were priced reasonably too. The plates that went past us were filled with large portions. The restaurant is clean and so were the restrooms. The waitress was sweet and attentive. I would recommend this restaurant to eat at. There was also a large bar in the middle and a deck for warmer weather.

Place is pretty run down and dirty. Food was bland, but portions are large.

We are renthing this season in lake harmony and have been going to. Shenanagins. Boulder view nicks lake house and Louie's. Quite often. What can I say all these bars have great atmosheres but the only decent place to eat is louies. Awesome food! We go to the others bars just for drinks now. The food is cold not cooked right or served from a can and warmed over. Shenanigans has no drink specials disappointing because I like the bar atmosphere here.
